Analyst Daniel Ives (via Apple 30) claims that the new iPad, iPad mini, and iPad Pro will be announced all at once
We have heard many rumors of various new iPads being announced at this event, including the possibility of a mini LED display on the iPad Pro 2021 As such, this is the latest in a series of reports confirming that today's event will be an iPad extravaganza
According to Ives, this seems to be an ideal time for Apple to upgrade its entire iPad series The company has witnessed a 40% increase in iPad growth over the past few quarters However, Ives predicts that only 40% of all iPad users have upgraded in the past year, and that making major changes to the iPad series will help to relieve "pent-up demand"
Ives' note to investors does not go into much detail about what these devices will offer, only that they are new versions However, many of them have been rumored for some time, especially the new iPad Pro, which is reported to be the biggest upgrade of them all
The iPad Pro 2021 is rumored to come in 11-inch and 129-inch models, and the larger of the two will feature a mini LED display This is a massive upgrade over the LCD displays used in most other Apple products, and the mini-LED display will not only offer better color and contrast, but also higher power efficiency It is also said to have a processor that is "equivalent" to the M1 chip
However, according to 9to5Mac, Ives also claims that the iPad Pro 2021 series will feature the A14X Bionic chipset This chip is likely to be similar to the one in the iPhone 12, but it is unclear if it will actually be powerful enough to compete with the M1 chip
There are also rumors that the new iPad mini 6 may come in an entirely new design and may have a larger 84" display It is said to mimic the iPad Pro design, with slimmer bezels and no home button Also, Touch ID will be retained, and if rumors of the loss of the home button are true, it will probably be accompanied by a fingerprint power button for the iPad Air 4
As for the new entry-level iPad, that is the biggest mystery: unlike the iPad Pro 2021 and iPad mini 6, we have not heard that this device will be announced at tomorrow's event However, it has been almost a year since the iPad 2020 was introduced, and it is time for an upgrade; while it is safe to assume that it will feature upgraded components, including the A13 Bionic chipset, we should not expect significant changes to this model
Apple's Spring Loaded event is later today (April 20) and is set to kick off at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT / 6 pm BST If these new iPads are to make an appearance, they will be joined by Apple AirTags and iMac 2021 AirPods 3 earbuds and a new Apple TV may also make an appearance
