PS5 will lose another feature next Month as Sony focuses on PS4

Sony has announced that next month the PS4's community features will be removed via an official update

Now that the PS5 has been placed in living rooms around the world, it is not surprising that Sony is not actively supporting the new features of the previous generation console However, it is a bit shocking that they have already removed what was a flagship feature

The news comes from Siliconera, which picked up on an email Sony sent to PS4 owners It confirms that the ability to create, join, and participate in PlayStation Communities will be removed from the console in April

This comes as no big surprise to those who follow the PlayStation closely Sony discontinued the PlayStation Communities mobile app last March, and the patch notes for the latest update beta also stated that the feature would be removed

Communities is not part of the PS5 interface, further suggesting that this feature was not used by most PS4 players Sadly, however, with the removal of this feature, the tight-knit community will have to find a new location

This is not the only PS4 feature that will soon be removed Earlier this month, it was confirmed that you will no longer be able to rent or buy movies and TV shows through the PlayStation Store on either PS4 or PS5

However, this will remain in effect until August 31, and movies and shows purchased before this date will still be available after they are removed from the store for purchase

Despite these announcements, Sony does not intend to completely end support for the PS4 anytime soon; many major titles, including Horizon: Forbidden West and Resident Evil 8: Resident Evil Village, will be released on the last-generation console this year

However, the number of titles that will be released on last generation consoles this year is expected to be much smaller

However, it is clear that the company's focus is shifting to the PS5, and the PS4 is entering its twilight years More features could be discontinued in the coming months
