From Bard to ChatGPT to Google's new search, AI chatbots are becoming increasingly popular, and Tom's sister site, Tom's Hardware, is also dipping its toe in the water by introducing its own chatbot, HammerBot helps Tom's Hardware visitors search articles on the site and find answers to questions about PCs, peripherals, components, and anything else Tom's Hardware covers
So how does it work?
HammerBot was developed using OpenAI's text-davinci-003 model, aka GPT-3: you ask HammerBot a question, and the server will query the dataset and display the results
If you would like to try it out, here is a link to Tom's Hardware Hammerbot
Unlike a typical chatbot like Bard, Hammerbot is limited to what it has learned from Tom's Hardware So if you try to ask it how many different kinds of cats there are in the world, or who would be a good lead singer for Van Halen, it might say it doesn't know, or it might not be able to answer your question
If you ask a question such as "What is the best raspberry pie?", Hammerbot will show you the answer along with some links to related articles in Tom's Guide and, if applicable, links to purchase that product
Keep in mind that, like all chatbots, Hammerbot is still very much in its infancy, so answers may not be completely accurate However, Tom's Hardware is working on improving the answers to make it a more useful tool for readers in the future Ultimately, our goal is to be able to provide you with the best advice when buying a new computer or upgrading an existing setup Please keep trying it out and let us know what you think
