I had the opportunity to try on items from the new Lenovo Tab Wear collection prior to the official launch on November 2 As someone who loves clothes and tech equally, I have not seen many products that successfully combine the two categories So when I first heard that Lenovo's tablet division had developed a line of outerwear, I tempered my expectations

But after all, wearing a tablet can be fashionable

After dressing in an inflatable pocho from Mayum, I unzipped into a sleek anorak from RANRA, a London- and Reykjavik-based studio At first glance, the olive green garment looks like a modern raincoat But as I pulled the extended hood over my head, I realized I was isolated from my environment My senses of sound and sight passed only through the hood of the jacket

This makes the coat ideal for focusing on what is in front of me In this case, that would be the Lenovo Tab The front zipper flap opens to reveal a dock the same size as the tablet The flap has a bungee cord strap that I draped over my head and around my neck to create a hands-free tablet canopy If I want to stream my favorite shows in public or watch highlights from a sports game, this light- and sound-shielding coat will come in handy

Hong Kong-based Kit Wan Studios created the third piece in the Lenovo Tab Wear collection Known for its one-of-a-kind pieces, the studio presented nothing short of a work of art I would best describe the coat's look as a fusion of body armor, anime, and cyberpunk street style

Kit Wang's coat is almost completely modular, allowing parts to be layered together without disrupting the unique pattern There are a number of functional pockets and pouches, one in particular dedicated to holding the stylus of the tablet The tablet itself, on the other hand, is housed in a harness that can be worn with or without the rest of the coat If you find a place where you want to sit and use the tablet, you can use the rest of the material as a blanket

While the latter two garments cannot actually be purchased, these three pieces are intended to show what happens when fashion makes it its mission to not only embrace but embrace our tech devices
