There is a wide variety of critically-acclaimed films this month There are several comedies, an action-packed sci-fi adventure, and a popular animated feature for the whole family

Without further ado, here are seven new high-rated movies coming to Peacock in October 2023

As an adult, the premise of "Back to the Future" is a little ridiculous, if not a little creepy At the heart of the movie is Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) suddenly appearing in the past and bringing his parents Lorraine and George (Leah Thompson and Crispin Glover) together after Marty's future is put in jeopardy All the while he's turning down his mother's advances because she's suddenly infatuated with this new face Marty's best friend is a mad scientist (Christopher Lloyd) who is buying nuclear material from Libyan terrorists

All that aside, "Back to the Future" is a classic Foxx and Lloyd play the odd pairing of Marty McFly and Doc Brown brilliantly, and the time-traveling DeLorean is still iconic today Add a great soundtrack with multiple songs by Huey Lewis and a killer performance by Fox, who arguably invented rock and roll music with this film, and you have a recipe for time at its best, with Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode

But a little more happens in the second film The Vikings of Berk, led by Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), Astrid (America Ferrera), and Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler), must defend their dragons and their homeland from the evil dragon hunter Drago Bludvist (Djimon Hunsoo) In the process, they meet the mysterious Dragon Rider (Cate Blanchett) For a family movie night, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is a great choice

The subsequent five films in the "Jurassic Park" series have varied in quality and are sometimes questionable, but the original is an undeniable classic Based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton, the same writer and director who wrote and directed "Westworld," which was later adapted into a film by HBO Like "Westworld," "Jurassic Park" takes place in an awe-inspiring amusement park with incredible science Unfortunately, things go incredibly wrong when the people running the amusement park lose control of what they have created

Starring Sam Neill as Dr Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr Ellie Sattler, Jeff Goldblum as Dr Ian Malcolm, and Richard Attenborough as Dr John Hammond It has everything you need: a phenomenal cast, an excellent director (Steven Spielberg), the iconic John Williams score, and CGI from Industrial Light and Magic Frankly, I'd be shocked if this isn't one of the best films ever made So be sure to see it while it's on Peacock

As I said in this month's Hulu movie roundup, "Shaun of the Dead" may be the best zombie movie ever And arguably the funniest The film stars Simon Pegg as the sleazy Sean as he and his friend Ed (Nick Frost) try to survive a zombie-infested London Sometimes they save friends and family, sometimes they kill friends and family But every time they laugh

I prefer "Shaun of the Dead," but there is certainly an argument to be made that "Hot Fuzz" is the better of the two Both are hilarious from start to finish, but I find "Hot Fuzz" a bit crazier

What cannot be refuted, however, is the excellent cast that Pegg and director Edgar Wright have assembled for the film In addition to Pegg and Frost, the cast includes Jim Broadbent as Inspector Frank Butterman, Paddy Considine as Sgt Andy Wainwright, Timothy Dalton as supermarket owner Simon Skinner, Bill Nye as Chief Inspector Kenneth, and Inspector Doris Thatcher Olivia Colman stars in the film If Olivia Colman is just one of the many fine actors in the film, you will certainly enjoy this film
