How to watch “Say Nothing” online from anywhere.
“Say Nothing” focuses on the 1972 abduction and murder of Jean McConville. Through her story, it reveals how decades of political turmoil affected individuals throughout society and the emotional and social cost of being forced into silence in a politically tense and dangerous environment.
The series stars Laura Petticrew as Dru Price and Hazel Doope as Marian Price, two young women who came to prominence as symbols of the IRA militant movement. Anthony Boyle plays Brendan Hughes, an attractive but internally conflicted military tactician. Josh Finan, meanwhile, plays Gerry Adams, a strategic politician who consistently denies any direct ties to the IRA but is later known for negotiating a peace agreement.
Say Nothing has a rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing (November 14). This score, based on 13 reviews, is impressive to say the least. Of course, the rating could change as more critical reviews come in over time.
Dan Einauf of the Financial Times says: “A tale of national tragedy and personal trauma, of youthful radicalism and abiding regret, it bounces between different perspectives but never flinches from the vicious cycle of violence.” The Daily Telegraph's Benjie Wilson, on the other hand, says the film “should be seen as a whole; it's a story about the tragedy of a nation and the tragedy of its people.
Adam Morgan had many words of praise in his review for Esquire: “‘Say Nothing’ is wonderful, downright exhilarating television.” They went on to say: 'Delhi Girls' and 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' are brilliantly blended, nailing the tone, pacing, and suspense of Keefe's masterpiece.”
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a perfect score, but not all critics were of the same opinion. Lucy Mangan of The Guardian says: “‘Say Nothing’ is compelling, but it is fatally flawed as an account of the troubles because it makes little attempt to hide its sympathy.”
The New Republic's Philip Maciak enjoyed the show but thought it could have been longer: at nine episodes, “Say Nothing” is a gutsy, epic limited series, but 30 episodes could have made it truly special Say Nothing.”
“Say Nothing” has all the elements of a fascinating historical thriller drama, and clearly the critics love it. If you are interested in a gripping story full of political intrigue, powerful performances at its heart, and a deep look at the complexities of loyalty and silence, this show deserves to be on your watch list. What's more, a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% is quite rare nowadays.
