According to a new leak, next year's Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup could see significant improvements in mobile gaming.
The leak from Jukanlosreve (via Android Police) suggests a game assist feature that seems intended to improve the performance of the S25 series through upscaling and Qualcomm technology. This suggests that the iPhone 16 is the kind of device that makes it look outdated in terms of gaming.
Samsung phones already have a game booster feature, with several performance tools that prioritize gaming performance. This potential game-assist feature would be an even more tangible performance boost.
Jukanlosreve's screenshot shows this game assist, which is supposed to “create a more enjoyable gameplay experience with game assist.” It also describes upscaling from 60Hz to 120Hz and “performance optimization to deliver higher performance with less heat.”
Their tweet also speculates that this new game mode is obtained thanks to “frame interpolation and upscaling using Qualcomm's AFME 2.0 technology.”
AFME is Qualcomm's Adreno Frame Motion engine, which Qualcomm states “doubles the frame rate while maintaining the same power consumption and providing realistic detail by generating high-quality scenes.”
This means that combined with the powerful looking Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Galaxy S25 could be one of the best gaming phones.
Samsung is expected to release an overhauled One UI 7 Android 15 skin with the Galaxy S25 series, and Game Assist may also debut. It is intended to bring smoothness, fluidity, and performance to Samsung's flagship phones.
