Strand #274

“Beatlemania!”

Hello Strand fans, hold on while I put on a Beatles playlist on Apple Music.

Yes, today we're talking about the SONGTITLES of the Beatles, though it's surprising that there's no “Something,” but “Beatlemania!” Given the subtle theme of “The Fab Four,” the rest are all big hits from the Fab Four's back catalog.

The “X” at the top left of the grid immediately identifies it as TAXMAN, and below it I see REVOLUTION spelled from left to right. Then the four letters of HELP were coded in the upper right corner.

Along with the spangram, we were left with two long answers; YESTERDAY took up most of the lower left of the grid and was fairly straightforward, but BLACKBIRD took a while to find.

Then I got my first SONGTITLES spangram, which in hindsight was rather obvious (I was expecting something more directly Beatles-related...). .
