It's not often that a pair of headphones pops up on our desks and makes us think, “Whoa, that's pretty.” That includes some of the best wireless earbuds around. The newly announced Noble FoKus Rex5 wireless earbuds caught our attention with their swirly green shell and glittery carry case.
And while looks aren't everything, Noble Audio seems to have packed these headphones with serious audiophile specs.
Noble Audio states, “The FoKus Rex5 has been in development for some time and the end result is a feature-rich TWS that implements new technologies rarely found in the competition.”
For one thing, the FoKus Rex5 earphones have five drivers, which, to our knowledge, is the most drivers ever in a set of earphones. Previously, the standard was up to three drivers. Noble's FoKus Prestige, for example, features an 8.2mm dynamic driver and two balanced armature (BA) drivers.
In contrast, the Rex5s has a 10mm dynamic driver, a 6mm planar driver, and three BA drivers. According to Noble Audio, these five drivers create “an impressive soundstage that effortlessly reproduces rich, full bass, detailed mids, and crystal-clear highs.” The frequency range of these earphones is extended from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. All of this is combined with active noise cancellation.
Noble Audio uses Audiodo's personalization software through the Noble app to customize EQ settings based on hearing ability. Once configured, the settings are uploaded and stored in the bud. In addition to AAC and SBC, aptX Adaptive and LDAC high-resolution codecs are also supported.
For connectivity, the Rex5 uses Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint.
Noble claims battery life of 5 hours with ANC on and 7 hours with ANC off. With a charging case, the company claims that a 15-minute quick charge will provide an additional 40 hours of playback.
The Noble FoKus Rex5 earphones are available for pre-order now for $449/£419/€499 and will begin shipping on November 29.
