Bad News for iOS 19 - Apple Reportedly Postpones Numerous Features

Recent reports indicate that Apple plans to delay many features of iOS 19 until a later release.

Recently, Apple has had a strange software release schedule; while there has been a lot of publicity surrounding Apple Intelligence, many fans have resented having to wait for many features, affecting the AI experience on Apple phones. Apple seems to be planning to do the same with iOS 19.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman writes, “We're hearing that more than the usual features planned for iOS 19 (beyond the new Siri) have already been delayed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 will debut) “ he stated. This would be consistent with Apple's current release schedule for Apple Intelligence, where many features are on hold until iOS 18.4, despite being announced at WWDC 2024.

Unfortunately, Garman does not have many details on what features may be delayed. He was, however, confident that LLM Siri, which was just reported last week, would be delayed. For what it's worth, Apple was recently reported to be working on allowing Siri to conduct conversations, like Google Gemini Voice, Meta AI Voice, and ChatGPT Advanced Voice.

As noted above, we are still waiting for many of the Apple Intelligence features. However, the latest beta version of iOS 18.2 includes some of the promised features. Most impressive is the Visual Intelligence feature for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. The new upgraded Siri is also great, and on a recent long drive I took, shuffling music is much simpler.

There is still a lot we don't know about iOS 19, especially what features it may bring. Apple will probably announce a version of iOS at WWDC in June 2025, but if Gurman is right, every announcement is worth taking with a grain of salt.
