Top 9 New Movies Available This Week on Netflix, Max, Hulu and More (Nov. 26-Dec. 2)

Thanksgiving will soon be upon us. Celebrate this week with a slew of new movies on Netflix, Max, Hulu, and other major streaming services.

The headliner is “Conclave.” Starring Ralph Fiennes and a stellar cast, this mystery thriller about choosing the next Pope is a must-see this week. It must be purchased or rented through a premium video-on-demand (PVOD) streaming service, but it may be worth it, as “Conclave” is not expected to appear on Peacock until after Christmas.

But these aren't the only big releases this week. Terrifier 3 was released earlier this year and was a smash hit. And now, the clown art of terror is coming to the small screen, with a PVOD release today (Nov. 26). No word yet on when it will be available to streaming video on demand (SVOD), so if you missed it in theaters, you'll want to buy or rent it now.

Some of these titles will be newly released digitally and will be available for a premium price, while for others, all you need is the right streaming subscription. And while you're here, don't forget to check out the best of the new TV shows and new Netflix shows to watch from streamers this week.

Here are the top new movies streaming this week.

“Conclave” stars Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Thomas Lawrence. When the Pope suddenly dies of a heart attack, he is charged with leading a conclave to choose a new pope.

Four cardinals are considered strong candidates: liberal Bellini (Stanley Tucci), social conservative Adeyemi (Lucien Massamati), mainline conservative Tremblay (John Lithgow), and reactionary traditionalist Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto). But everything goes awry when Vincent Benitez (Carlos Diez), Archbishop of Kabul, arrives and declares that the late Pope has secretly made him a cardinal. If you enjoy mystery thrillers, you'll enjoy Fiennes's excellent performance. The film is already being talked about for the Academy Awards.

Nothing says Christmas like a Christmas slasher movie. Terrifier 3 is the third installment in the Terrifier series by Damian Leone. The horror franchise centers on Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera), a young woman destined to one day defeat Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), a demonic serial killer in fictional Miles County, New York.

But until she defeats Art for good, he is destined to make her life a living hell. In “Terrifier 3,” Art is resurrected with the help of the Little Pale Girl, who possesses “Terrifier” survivor Victoria Hayes (Samantha Scaffidi), and unleashes a new round of carnage. If you like brutal horror films, watch “Terrifier 3” on PVOD this week.

“Robot Dreams” No one stars in this one. It is an animated tragicomedy, so there is no need for physical actors. Nor is there any voice acting, as there is no dialogue throughout the entire 102-minute film.

But dialogue is not necessary to enjoy this wonderful story. The Robot's Dream tells the story of Dog, who orders a robot friend. The two then share a wonderful summer, but at the end of their sunny days, things take a tragic turn. Since its debut at last year's Cannes Film Festival, I've been eagerly awaiting the film to finally make its way to SVOD streaming services. Although the film did not win Best Animated Feature at this year's Academy Awards, it was loved by basically everyone who saw it. However, the film is rendered in a non-linear fashion, and the real star of the film is the single point on earth where the entire film takes place.

Based on a 2014 graphic novel by Richard McGuire, the film takes place in the distant past and into the 21st century. Another feature of the film is that it often splits the screen into multiple perspectives, showing events that took place in the same place from different eras simultaneously. In addition to Hanks and Wright, the film also stars Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly, and the digital de-aging of much of the cast allows them to play characters from different periods in history.

I'm only a fan of casual romantic comedies and can hardly stand Christmas movies. But the trailer for Our Little Secret looks surprisingly decent. That's the plot of Lindsay Lohan's latest romantic comedy film for Netflix, Our Little Secret.

In Our Little Secret, Lohan plays Avery, who spends Christmas with her boyfriend's family. If you thought spending your first holiday with your new partner's family sucked, imagine how awkward it would be to have to spend it with your ex-boyfriend as well. Or watch this Netflix movie and see for yourself.

Streaming on Netflix starting November 27

It may be Christmas movie season, but “Sweethearts” is an unusual (and frankly underutilized) Thanksgiving movie. Starring Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hilaga as a pair of college freshmen who promise to break up with their high school sweethearts on the eve of Thanksgiving.

But when they decide to leave their significant others, they are thrust into a chaotic night in their hometown that tests their friendship. Anecdotally, I have heard favorable things about the film, and the trailer is intriguing. Furthermore, with Sipka, of “Mad Men” fame, in the lead role, it should have potential.

Streaming on Max from November 28

In 1964, The Beatles were already a bid project. But once Beatlemania arrived in the U.S., things leaped to a whole new level.

In The Beatles '64, director David Tedeschi and producer Marting Scorsese examine the cultural impact the Beatles' brief visit in February 1964 had on America and the personal dynamics of the group members. The documentary film includes archival footage that revisits this remarkable moment in music history, including the Beatles' iconic performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Streaming on Disney Plus beginning November 29

“The Nutcracker” stars Ben Stiller as Mike Maxwell. Mike is a workaholic, but when his nephews are orphaned in a car accident, he goes to a small town in rural Ohio to take care of them.

That three-day trip soon turns into weeks of chaos. Mike finds himself having to juggle the tasks of parenting, which he is not quite ready for, such as killing chickens, teaching his nephews to have sex, and bugging carnival rides and having to deal with the police. If you need an unruly Christmas movie, “The Nutcracker” may be the answer.

Streaming on Hulu from November 29

“Knee Cap” is the “almost true” story of a Belfast Irish-language hip-hop trio. Starring band members Liam O'Hannaidh, Naoise O'Cairealláin, and JJ O'Docherty (aka DJ Provai), the film is set in the 2010s; Hannaidh and Cairealláin grew up in the Gaeltacht area of West Belfast, and Naoise's father learned Irish from Arlo (Michael Fassbender).

As a result, his wife Dolores began writing lyrics in Irish, and when JJ convinced Liam and Naoise to form an Irish-language music group, the trio formed; the three knew this course of action was sure to be controversial, but their music and outspoken Republican message did just that as they gained support.

If you want to see an unexpected biopic, I suggest you see “Kneecap. Rory Mellon, the magazine's entertainment editor, called it “the most off-the-wall comedy I've ever seen.”

Available on Netflix December 2
