Netflix New: 5 Movies and Shows to Watch This Week (Dec. 9-15)

Topping the list of new Netflix shows and movies this week is a new movie I've been anticipating for quite some time. Coming to the streaming service this week is “Carry-On.” Taron Egerton faces off against Jason Bateman in this tense action thriller that I can't wait to see this week.

Aside from movies, the usual mix of shows and documentaries will arrive this week. The show to watch, however, will be the new comedy series “No Good Deed,” starring Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow. Movie buffs need not worry. Aside from “Carry On,” there is a new Angelina Jolie film coming to Netflix this week.

“Carry On” stars Taron Egerton as Ethan Kopec. Ethan is a lowly employee of the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) who was hoping for an uneventful Christmas. Unfortunately for him, the day is anything but uneventful when a mysterious traveler calls and tells him that if he doesn't get a certain bag through airport security, everyone at the airport will die.

The mystery man is played by none other than Jason Bateman, and we look forward to seeing him and Egerton face off in an action movie. In addition to these two, “Carry On” also stars Sofia Carson as Ethan's girlfriend. Don't miss it when it comes to Netflix this month.

Available on Netflix December 13

“Maria” is the latest in director Pablo Larraín's series of biopics about prominent 20th century women, following 2016's “Jackie” and 2021's “Spencer,” in which Angelina Jolie portrays the last century's leading Maria Callas, one of the most famous opera singers of the last century. Like the other biopics of Lalaine mentioned above, “Maria” focuses on a specific slice of this acclaimed singer's life, particularly her later years living in Paris.

That is not the only thing it shares with Lalaine's previous films. Callas famously had an affair with shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis (Hulk Birginer), who eventually broke up with Jackie Kennedy, the main subject of “Jackie.” As with all biopics, it is the performances of the film's leads that are its greatest draw, and Jolie's performance in “Maria” is not to be missed.

“No Good Deed” stars Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow as Paul and Lydia Morgan. The couple wants out of their dream home in Los Angeles and are relatively desperate to sell, although they certainly don't intend to tell buyers.

But not as desperate as those trying to buy the Morgan couple's house. The dark comedy also stars Linda Cardellini as status-seeking Margo Sterling, Luke Wilson as washed-up soap opera star JD Campbell, and Teyonah Parris as elite architect Kara All three want the house and will stop at nothing to get it. . Don't miss “No Good Deed” and its stellar cast when it hits Netflix this week.

First, and most importantly, the show's design expert, Bobby Burke, has stepped down. He will be replaced by Jeremiah Brent, who was on TLC's reality show Nate & Jeremiah by Design.
