Top 5 New Shows Available This Week on Netflix, Peacock and More (Dec. 9-15)

In the midst of the holiday rush, streaming services such as Netflix and Peacock, as well as broadcast and cable TV stations, are launching new TV shows.

This week's lineup of spectacular new shows includes “The Real Full Monty,” in which Anthony Anderson, James Van Der Beek, and other male celebrities bare it all for cancer awareness. Plus, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie reunite to produce an opera, “Paris and Nicole: The Encore.”

Screenplay productions include the long-awaited adaptation of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and the premiere of its prequel “Dexter: Original Sin,” and Netflix's comedy thriller “No Good Deed,” starring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano. Here are the top new shows to check out this week.

The 1997 British comedy “The Full Monty” is an endearing classic about a group of unemployed steelworking men who strip to make money. Now it is becoming a reality. Anthony Anderson brings together male celebrities to bare it all to raise awareness of prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research Anthony Anderson, from Black-ish, along with Taye Diggs (“The Best Man”), Chris Jones ( Kansas City Chiefs), Tyler Posey (“Teen Wolf”), Bruno Tonioli (“Dancing with the Stars”), and James Van Der Beek (“Dawson's Creek”). Van Der Beek recently revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. They train and rehearse for the most revealing performance of their careers: a strip dance in front of a live audience.

The special premieres Monday, December 9 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox (via Sling or Fubo)

One of the greatest literary works in history is finally coming to the screen. While this adaptation did not take as long as a century of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novels, it was certainly a difficult road. That's where television comes in. Alex Garcia Lopez and Laura Mora are adapting the epic story of seven generations of the Buendía family to film, with the blessing of his family. The story begins in the early 19th century when José Arcadio Buendía (Marco Antonio González) and Ursula Iguarán (Susana Morales), cousins and forbidden lovers, flee their village for a new place called Macondo.

All eight episodes premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, December 11 at 3:00 a.m. ET

Two of the '90s' most iconic sitcom stars join forces in this “Dead to Me” creator Liz Feldman's dream house turned nightmare comedy thriller. When married couple Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) decide to move out of their empty nest, a real estate fiasco ensues. Several families express interest in a luxurious 1920s Spanish-style villa in one of Los Angeles' most sought-after neighborhoods. But Paul and Lydia are harboring a dark secret, and as buyers and agents flock to their home, that secret threatens to spill out.

All eight episodes premiere on Netflix on Thursday, December 12 at 3 a.m. ET

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have come a long way from “The Simple Life.” Now, more than 20 years after their debut on the reality show, the BFFs reunite in this three-part special to bring their song “Sanasa,” created for “The Simple Life” Season 3, to the opera. Before they can get the production off the ground, they return to Arkansas to revisit the past and terrorize the locals once again. Then they write the epic, audition, and direct the cast and crew to create a spectacle like no other. That's hot.

All three episodes premiere Thursday, December 12 at 3 a.m. ET on Peacock

The “Dexter” franchise has already branched out with the sequel series “New Blood,” with Michael C. Hall reprising his lead role. Now, this prequel series explores the opposite direction of the timeline: in 1991 Miami, young Dexter (Patrick Gibson) is a student-turned-serial killer. Under the guidance of his father Harry (Christian Slater), Dexter adopts a code to find people who should be eliminated from society. This is especially challenging for Dexter, who has begun a forensic internship with the Miami Metro Police Department.

Episode 1 premieres Friday, December 13 at 3 a.m. ET on Paramount Plus
