OnePlus may be working on a shiny new tablet, but the rumored device may turn out to be not as expensive as its current high-end model, the OnePlus Pad 2. However, that would likely mean that this new tablet's potential is low-spec compared to the OnePlus Pad 2, which is currently rated as the best tablet for Android users.
This report on OnePlus' tablet plans comes from a prominent leaker on Weibo named Digital Chat Station. The leaker describes the new device as the “OnePlus Tablet Standard Edition,” which will probably not be the final name, as OnePlus wants to stick with the Pad brand it uses globally.
Regarding the tablet's specs, GSMArena reports that it will feature an 11.6-inch display with 2.8K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate; compared to the OnePlus Pad 2's 12.1-inch screen, the new tablet will be slightly smaller overall .
The affordable tablet will reportedly be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC, an affordable chip manufactured on a 4nm process node. The chip will offer a 3.35GHz Cortex-A715 prime core and four Cortex-A510 cores.Since the OnePlus Pad 2 is powered by the beastly Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, this chip, which is considered an affordable tablet, is a significant downgrade It will be. According to reports, it will have a high-capacity 9,520mAh battery capable of 67W fast charging, the same as the one found in more expensive slates.
Based on the rumored specs and the fact that Oppo and OnePlus are owned by the BBK Group, one can conclude that the new OnePlus model will be a rebranded Oppo Pad 3.
Perhaps this tablet will replace the original OnePlus Pad, which is still available. However, it is also possible that OnePlus will target a price even lower than $300, leaving the original OnePlus Pad as an option. Either way, if OnePlus' affordable tablet is as good as the company's flagship, I would welcome it.
Perhaps we'll know more when the OnePlus 13 is unveiled globally next month, but that may be a bit longer since it's just around the corner.
