Is Christmas really Christmas without a cheesy Hallmark movie (or ten)? Because in this house, it's Christmas season all year round. Sometimes you just need a run-of-the-mill festive romance movie to get you in the mood.
For a while, Netflix's non-original Christmas movies tended to be the same every year. There were a handful of chill classics on most streaming services, but it was difficult to find new films outside of the TV broadcasts.
Fortunately, Hallmark has entered the streaming chat, and we are seeing more and more of their movies on streaming services like Netflix, Peacock, and Prime Video. You've probably seen Netflix's classic Christmas movies, “A Christmas Prince” and “The Princess Switch.” But for those itching for a classic Hallmark Christmas vibe, Netflix is full of sleighs. Here are seven of Netflix's best Hallmark Christmas movies, ranked by a combination of originality, romantic (or platonic) chemistry, acting, and execution.
We love the “famous celebrity falls for the only person who has no idea who he or she is” storyline. In the case of Christmas on Notting Hill, Graham, a professional soccer player, has feelings for Georgia, a straight-laced special needs teacher. (For Americans: for Americans: a footballer is a soccer player.
After spending Christmas with her sister in London, Georgia meets Graham. As is often the case, the two clash before finding common ground. It is easy to understand why someone in the spotlight might be wary of going on a date without being sure if the other person is interested in them or their persona. In this case, it is easy to understand the appeal of dating someone who did not know you when you met. Given that they are both fairly closed-minded, Graham and Georgia have some work to do.

Grinch warning: Emily's (Lacey Chabert) boyfriend really sucks. Emily's (Lacey Chabert) boyfriend really sucks. Emily's (Lacey Chabert) boyfriend really sucks. Frankly, the whole neighborhood association thing sounds awful enough to avoid suburban life like the plague. Either that or the fact that most of my generation will never own a home.
Childhood friend and HOA president Jared (Wes Brown) forces her to take on all Christmas duty when her parents leave for Florida, leaving her alone for Christmas. With her workload, it is no wonder that it becomes difficult for her to actually enjoy Christmas. You can probably guess which romantic turn of events will take place from there.

Years ago, Mona (Michaele Morgan) left her small town to become a brand ambassador in New York City. Guess what happens next? Mona, a city girl unlucky in love, returns to her hometown for Christmas and attends the town's annual holiday carnival.
The film is part of Hallmark's “Mahogany” series, which began in 2021. One of the more special components of the film comes from its focus on Mona's culture, customs, and community as she reconnects with her family and hometown. It goes deeper than the charming atmosphere of the candy-candy, candy-loving countryside we are accustomed to seeing.

“Mean Girls” was a pipeline for future Christmas movie stars Jonathan Bennett, Lindsay Lohan, and Lacey Chabert. The latter stars as Dr. Lindsay Morgan, the star of “A Merry Scottish Christmas,” who travels to Scotland with her estranged brother to visit her mother. It wouldn't be a Hallmark movie without a Christmas season bombshell. Refreshingly, this is more of a family story than a romance film. Not that there isn't romance, of course. It's just that it is never the star of the show.
Fans of the OG “Party of Five” will enjoy seeing Chabert reunite with his former co-star Scott Wolf (Brad). And if you don't recognize them right away, you probably will when you hear the many references to the '90s drama.

You know that place called Christmas Island can be a festive paradise (unless you're Scrooge). Naturally, career-minded Kate (Rachel Skarsten) must rediscover her love of Christmas. As a pilot, Kate gets stuck in a blizzard in air traffic controller Oliver's hometown with the Sharp family she was piloting.
Meanwhile, there is an enemies-to-lovers storyline unfolding between Kate and Oliver, and the Sharp family learns their lesson; for fans of The Office, Dwight's favorite German version of Santa, Belsnickel, makes a cameo appearance.

You don't often see ensembles in Hallmark films, but “Christmas on Cherry Lane” fills the void by having three couples share the same running time. Fans of “This is Us” can watch the film from 1973 to 2023 (the year of the film's release), the film's setting, which focuses on the residents of a single house for several decades, will probably ring a bell for everyone.
Unlike most Christmas movies, this film actually has some surprises. There's definitely a reason why fans love unconventional films, but it's still a nice change of pace to see a unique setting that challenges what we've come to expect. Queer representation is always a good way to convince me, given how poor the genre has been at telling Christmas stories. Jonathan Bennett is spearheading Hallmark's recent initiative to tell more LGBTQ+ stories, and we love seeing it.

We all have come to expect Christmas romance, and while we love the same old same old plot, a little spice is always refreshing. A Biltmore Christmas doesn't have the usual “small-town girl returns home after a terrible breakup” plot. Instead, it features screenwriter Lucy (Bethany Joy Lenz) as the protagonist, who is transported back in time. (Save yourself the trouble of a Google search: it's not a real movie.)
Obviously, this fictional film is an imitation of the actual 1946 classic, It's a Wonderful Life. As is customary, Lucy must overcome her faded tendencies while fighting the butterfly effect to prevent the timeline from being altered. The moral of the story. Never turn over a dubious hourglass.
