With Jane Seymour out of the way, Cromwell was left to set up his next marriage to the disreputable Anne of Clave, much to the displeasure of Henry VIII (Cromwell was thinking big picture politically, but the royal family - as ever - was not as interested in his Rhone bride as he felt in her (Cromwell was thinking about the zero attraction he felt for his Rhone bride).

Unable to consummate the marriage, the king reports it to Cromwell, who foolishly leaks the information. It was a big mistake. He is immediately stripped of his title and taken to the Tower of London for treason. After years of instigating conspiracies, he has no shortage of enemies who are happy to see him pay for his crimes.

Episode 1: Wreckage - “Mirror and Light” begins after the death of Anne Boleyn. Thomas Cromwell is appointed the unpredictable king's chief chamberlain and rises to the pinnacle of power. After a smooth marriage to the king and his third wife, Jane Seymour, and his appointment as chief clerk and Lord Privy Seal, there is hardly a matter of state that does not pass through Cromwell's desk. But he also attracts powerful enemies.

Episode 2: Obedience-Cromwell is secure as Henry's chief advisor, but his greatest enemy, the Duke of Norfolk, is the highest-ranking nobleman in England and has been stigmatized by an act of treason by his niece, Anne Boleyn. So when Cromwell uncovers a secret meeting between Norfolk's brother and the king's niece, he has the chance to ruin Norfolk for good. But will Cromwell be able to avenge Norfolk?

Episode 3: Rebellion - Cromwell's visit to Shaftesbury Abbey leads to his undoing. His confidence in himself and his past and present decisions is shaken to the core, and he can no longer invoke the memory of his most beloved mentor, Cardinal Wolsey, to cut through the dangerous shadows of Henry's court.

Episode 4: Jenneke - King Henry's court was on the brink of a new era. Henry and Jane have a child, and the king is allowed to imagine a legitimate heir for the third time in his life. The war in the North was over, the rebels were crushed, and Lady Mary was back at court and out of the reach of Henry's enemies. England was cautiously hopeful. But the joy of the birth of a young prince in the fall of 1538 was short-lived when Edward's mother Jane died of complications during childbirth only 12 days after his birth, leaving Henry's court in mourning.

Episode 5: Mirror - Cromwell's marriage diplomacy brings Princess Anne of Clave to Henry's court. Will this alliance create a Protestant power in Northern Europe, or has Cromwell's luck run out?

Episode 6: Light (season finale) - Cromwell is stripped of his title and taken to the Tower of London for treason. He has no friends to speak for him, but he has many enemies among the prosecutors.
