Five miniseries you won't want to miss this weekend on Prime Video

With the ever-lengthening intervals between major shows offered by each streaming service, it's sometimes nice to sit back and take a quick glance without having to worry about remembering what happened to a show you streamed nearly two years ago.

Prime Video has perhaps one of the strongest limited-series lineups on the market, boasting twisted thrillers, offbeat comedies, and engrossing dramas (among other things). If you're looking for something quick to stream, here are seven of the best Prime Video miniseries you can watch in one weekend. You're going to need a laugh this weekend. The Sticky, a bizarre six-part crime comedy series, fits the bill. Maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale) decides to turn against the bureaucracy threatening her farm in the most unique way possible. With the help of a hot-blooded Bostonian criminal and a French-Canadian security guard, Ruth plans a daring multi-million dollar heist of Quebec's maple syrup reserves.

“Swarm” is a satirical seven-part dark comedy-drama that delves into the dangerous side of fan culture. The miniseries tells the story of Andrea “Dre” Green (Dominique Fishback), a young woman with an unhealthy obsession with world-famous pop star Nidjar. Dre is willing to risk her life to protect an idol like Beyonce. A bold and violent depiction of extreme fan culture, the film shifts freely from a doomed tone to darkly comic, propelled by the lead actor's formidable performance.

Harlan Coben's name is synonymous with twisty thrillers and mystery novels, and in this young adult take on Netflix's Coben drama, high schooler Mickey (Jaden Michael), a car accident He is grieving the loss of his father in a car accident. At his new home in suburban New Jersey (he moves in with his aunt after the accident), he befriends a group of eccentric teens at school and begins to investigate the disappearance of his fellow students.

“Daisy Jones & the Six” is an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's popular novel about the demise of a 1970s Fleetwood Mac-style rock supergroup. The band once reigned supreme, but the clashing visions and glitzy chemistry shared by two members, Daisy (Riley Keough) and Billy (Sam Claflin), tore the group apart. 20 years later, they come together for the first time to tell the story of how it all happened. The film is full of engrossing drama, reminiscent of the fictional glory days of Daisy Jones & the Six.

Hugo Blick's The English is a phenomenal Western miniseries in which Mrs. Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt) leaves her hometown for the Old West to seek revenge on the man she believes is responsible for her son's death. On her journey, she meets Eli Whipp (Chasky Spencer), a former cavalry scout and member of the Pawnee Nation. He is a man who arrives in Nebraska determined to claim ownership of the land that should repay him for his military service, and the two embark on a dangerous journey of intertwined destinies. Moving, beautiful, and emotional, “The English” is a true Prime Video highlight, and at only six episodes, it can be run through in a matter of days.

Barry Jenkins' Golden Globe-winning novel “The Underground Railroad” turns Colson Whitehead's famous historical novel of the same name into a powerful and poignant 10-part limited series. The Underground Railroad introduces us to friends Cora (Tso Mbedu) and Caesar (Aaron Pierre), who escape from their Georgia cotton plantation via the Underground Railroad network that helps enslaved people escape to Canada and the free states. Cinematic and sprawling, this was a truly memorable season of television.

After Prime Video discontinued it earlier this year after just one season, “My Lady Jane” is an eight-episode, irreverent, historically entertaining production. The series is based on the ahistorical YA novel of the same name and reimagines the life of England's “Queen of Nine Days,” Lady Jane Grey. Jane (Emily Bader) is caught up in everything from the social divide between humans and Eshan (human-animal shapeshifters), to secret plans to oust King Edward, to her love-hate marriage to Sir Guilford Dudley (Edward Bluemel). From start to finish, it's a glittering, raunchy, amorous romp.
