We've covered every Nintendo Switch 2 leak and rumor that has come out. We've seen everything from possible release dates to rumored prices. And now a popular YouTube channel called SwitchUp has released a mockup of the Switch 2.
According to the YouTube channel, the console mockup was provided by a third-party case manufacturer, which explains why the video also shows off a case for the Switch 2. Of course, in this day and age of 3D printers and the like, something like this can be counterfeited incredibly quickly.
Still, if this is an accurate mock-up, we are looking at a Nintendo Switch 2. It looks very similar to the current Switch, but is much wider and appears closer in size to Valve's Steam Deck than to Nintendo's current Switch OLED. The mockup also reveals a USB-C port on top, perfect for charging while playing.
The Joy-Con is more enlarged in the alleged mockup, and Nintendo appears to have added a second auxiliary button to the right Joy-Con. Since this is not a functional console, it is not easy to determine what this button is used for, but it may be a shared button, as other consoles have adopted similar features. Also, the controllers are slightly rounded, which may make them more comfortable.
Other than these tweaks, the Switch 2 looks like the handheld console we know and love, but is much more massive. This purported mockup doesn't say much about the console's docking capabilities, so we'll have to wait for more information.
Whether this mockup is legitimate or not, we will have to wait for when Nintendo finally announces it (which could be as early as March 2025).
