The animated film is set on the Italian Riviera, where 13-year-old sea creature Luca (Jacob Tremblay) lives offshore When Luca goes ashore, he can take on human form, but the locals assume that Luca is a monster, so Luca's guardians forbid him to go ashore Luca's curiosity gets the better of him and, encouraged by his new friend Alberto, the two venture into the town of Portorosso
Luca and Alberto become friends with a village girl, Juilia (Emma Berman), who enters them in the town triathlon However, they must be extremely careful, as the residents of Portorosso have killed sea monsters before, and even a drop of water could reveal their true identities
Luka is available on Disney Plus after its release on Friday, June 18 at 3:00 am ET
