The Magneto, with its sleek gray and blue color scheme, sets itself apart from the rest by offering a six-speed manual transmission Considering that cars like the Tesla Model S use a single-speed automatic transmission, what Jeep has accomplished is a novelty in the electric vehicle field

The Magneto Concept is an all-electric vehicle, but Jeep has tuned it to feel as much like a Wrangler as possible while adding electric advantages

The motor uses a custom axial-flow design and is tuned to match the 36-liter V6 engine found in the Wrangler Rubicon Maximum output is 285 hp and maximum torque is 273 ps

But of course, the Magneto has an electric motor that produces torque instantly If the driver presses the pedal all the way down, the car can go from 0 mph to 60 mph in 68 seconds While this may not match the ludicrous acceleration speeds seen in the Tesla, understand that this is an off-road SUV meant to be driven over rugged and rugged terrain

Unlike other electric vehicles, the Magneto has a clutch Drivers need not worry about driving off on the clutch, as it is impossible for the car to stall Still, like any manual car, the clutch must be depressed every time the driver shifts gears

Powering the electric motor are four lithium-ion battery packs located throughout the chassis The battery packs bring the weight to a whopping 5,750 pounds Range and charging times have not been disclosed

Magneto is supported by 35-inch tires, a 2-inch lift, a Warn winch, and some nifty exterior lighting

Of course, this is only a concept car There is still a lot of testing that Jeep engineers need to do before this vehicle is ready to drive Off-road conditions are treacherous and Magneto needs to be subjected to all kinds of trials
