Both Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 will receive three upgrades to make using the all-in-one virtual reality headset more fun and easy

Guardian mode in Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 is a good way to "fill" the virtual space to prevent running face-first into walls So far, however, it has been a bit limited

But the good news, reported by UploadVR, is that the Quest headset is getting an upgrade that will allow you to mark chairs and couches as part of the virtual environment

This means that instead of being marked as the boundary of the VR space, sitting there without removing the Quest headset will trigger the Guardian system to trigger couch mode (basically a seated VR mode)

Currently, you must draw a VR boundary line on the couch or seat, which means that it marks the edge of the VR area, so the headset will not register it as usable space However, with this upgrade, you will be able to drag a virtual rectangle to mark the sofa and get the correct dimensions, just like how you would mark a VR space

Once completed, the sofa or chair will appear as a 3D model in the Oculus Home virtual menu environment This means that the chair is recognized and you can sit on it, triggering the seated VR mode

Just keep in mind that this upgrade is currently an experimental process and may not have been rolled out to your Quest or Quest 2 yet

On the surface, this new upgrade may seem small But anything that makes the experience of using VR more seamless is definitely important; setting up a VR headset and measuring the space required is a daunting task, especially in a small room or apartment Therefore, it would be very nice to have tools that simplify it

Another upgrade to Oculus Quest comes from the Virtual Desktop app, which has finally received Oculus Store approval That means you can now purchase it on the main Oculus Quest store for $1999, which means you don't have to go through the process of sideloading it

Virtual Desktop means you can stream PC-only VR games to the Quest headset and run other apps on your PC Moreover, all of this can be done wirelessly

The Oculus Quest and Quest 2 also include another feature called "Hey Facebook" voice commands
