Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim may be released globally, unlike Galaxy Fold SE

Given that Samsung has released a new Galaxy S device every year since 2010 and is currently up to the S24, the imminent launch of a new version would not be a big surprise. However, the specifications of the lineup may change slightly in 2025, and Samsung is reportedly working on a “slim” model alongside the familiar three Galaxy S25 models (Regular, Plus, and Ultra).

Not much is known about Samsung's Galaxy S25 Slim, and in fact, it may just be a refinement of the more attractively named Galaxy S25 FE. But now one very important detail has been confirmed: it will be released worldwide and will not be limited to certain regions.

This is according to Erencan Yılmaz, who reportedly posted the model number to X: SM-S937B/DS. 'B' means it will be sold in all regions where Samsung is rolling out, and 'DS' means dual sim support.

The latter detail is not particularly surprising, but is welcome, as it means that two different phone numbers can be used simultaneously (for regular travel, in different countries, or to maintain work and home communications on the same device). However, the supposed global availability is great news and should not have been taken for granted. In the past, Samsung has left some versions of the device for its home country of South Korea, most recently the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, but this does not seem to be the case.

Details of Samsung's Galaxy S25 Slim are, appropriately enough, somewhat thin, but it would be Samsung's answer to rumors that Apple will release an iPhone 17 Slim model next year. Apple's Slim model is rumored to be the most expensive iPhone ever, so if Samsung's is really a rebadge of the Galaxy FE, these two devices could be aimed at very different markets.

Even if the prices could be different, Samsung could have one big advantage over Apple. According to reliable leaker Ice Universe, the company aims to focus on photography with a camera that is “more powerful than the S25 and closer to the idea of the vivo X200 Pro mini.”

This is a big ambition and potentially dangerous if Samsung cannibalizes demand for the Galaxy S25 series as a result. While the regular S25, Plus, and Ultra models are expected to arrive in January, the Slim model could come much later in the year, still mooting an April date.
