Meta's latest software update for Ray-Ban smart glasses brings many new features. And there are some really big discounts for Black Friday.
Right now on Amazon, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are $263, 20% off the retail price of $329. In addition, Amazon is offering a free $90 Amazon credit.
The Ray-Ban smart glasses have long been my form factor of choice for the perfect AI device. Ignoring the fact that they look great, being able to talk to an AI that can see what you are looking at is a huge advantage over simply having it built into your phone.
As noted in our review of the Ray-Ban Meta, we loved the sleek design, improved camera quality, and the ability to live stream to Instagram. The sound quality is also improved, whether you're listening to music or making a phone call. And it's waterproof.
Meta also revealed new celebrity voices for the Ray-Beta Meta glasses, including John Cena and Kristen Bell. Initially, the voices were only accessible through Meta AI chatbots in apps like Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp, but now they are also available on Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. You can hear John Cena's voice saying, “Daddy's calling you. [The latest update also adds more languages supported by the AI, including French, Italian, and Spanish.
Other major changes are the new Adaptive Volume Control and Loudness Boost available in the audio settings. Woodland states, “Even when the Adaptive Volume Control is turned on and the volume is set to its loudest setting, it will still get a little louder depending on the situation.”
Finally, there is a new music detection tool. If you're listening to a song through your glasses, you can say, “Hey Meta, what's this song?” perfect for when you're listening to an Apple Music station or a random playlist.
Woodland said there will be more software updates to add new AI and non-AI features to the smart glasses.
