Nintendos 2 Release Date and Major Announcement Revealed - What You Need to Know

Nintendos 2 Release Date and Major Announcement Revealed - What You Need to Know

Other than confirming that 1) there will be a successor to the best-selling Switch game console and 2) Nintendo Switch 2 (name unconfirmed, but we'll use it for now) will be announced by the end of March 2025, Nintendo has not confirmed anything about a successor to the Nintendo Switch, They have been quite tight-lipped.

Still, people want to know when Nintendo's next-generation hardware will arrive, and according to a Weibo forum post (subsequently reported by ScreenRant) by an alleged “Chinese insider” discovered by CentroLeaks on X, Nintendo will announce next January that Switch 2 will be officially announced, followed by a launch sometime in March, he claimed.

It should be noted that, for now, this is an unverified rumor and should not be taken as a confirmation that the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever it will eventually be called) will be revealed in January and announced in March.

However, CentroLeaks, which has accurately leaked Pokémon information in the past, claims that the Weibo poster in question has leaked “almost everything” about the last Nintendo Direct. For this reason, the rumor is a bit intriguing, but should still be taken with a grain of salt.

However, given Nintendo's previous release patterns, a two-month cycle between release and announcement would be quite surprising for Nintendo. The original Switch was announced in October 2016 and then released in March 2017. Previous Nintendo consoles have had a similar schedule.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 is known to be backward compatible with games from the original Switch. Returning to the world of online rumors, the Joy-Cons controller is said to be redesigned, becoming magnetic and increasing in size.

We will know more once Nintendo officially announces the console. Fingers crossed that it will be done soon so that we can leave all these online rumors behind.
