All new Hulu shows and movies in January 2025.

Hulu was a bit slow in January, with only one Hulu original premiere and nothing from the FX brand, the streaming service's prestige. Fortunately, that's because both ABC and FOX are featuring season premieres of popular shows, which will be streamed on Hulu the day after they air.

ABC will premiere new seasons of crime investigation dramas “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” Tim Allen's new sitcom “Shifting Gears,” and reboots of reality shows “The Bachelor” and “Extreme Makeover : Home Edition”; FOX premieres a new season of sitcom ‘Animal Control,’ the debut of medical drama ‘Doc,’ and the season premieres of reality show staples ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ and ‘Special Forces: The World's Toughest Test’

Denis Leary returns to FOX with a sitcom set on a US military base in the Netherlands. It is by no means a hotbed of military activity, which is why Colonel Patrick Quinn, played by Leary, is sent there as a demotion after an inappropriate outburst. The hard-nosed commander is left at the world's smallest army base, where he is stuck supervising a group of losers and misfits, including his own daughter (Taylor Misiak).

The cast includes “Community's” Danny Pudi, with regular appearances by Joe Morton, who has played a military officer, and Catherine Tate of “Doctor Who.” Leary, who rose to fame thanks to his acerbic, ranting standup personality, is now at an age where he can deliver a scathing rant to the younger generation, and this film looks to be just the place for it. Available on Hulu beginning January 3

Hulu's stand-up comedy brand, Hularious, will follow Jim Gaffigan and Ilana Glazer with its third original special, comedian and former “The Daily Show” regular Roy Wood, Jr. a comedian and former regular on “The Daily Show,” will be featured. After leaving “The Daily Show,” Wood moved on to host another satirical current affairs show, CNN's “Have I Got News for You,” but his comedy is not limited to news and politics.

“Lonely Flowers” will be Wood's fourth stand-up special and first since 2021. The announcement promises that the special will “explore how a lack of connection has catapulted society into a culture full of guns, protests, rude employees, self-checkouts, and sex parties, and why some of us would rather be alone than connected.” Wood, who has been delivering audio news stories for the past few years, now has a broader platform for his comedic point of view: streaming on Hulu starting January 17,

the streaming service is flooded with murder mystery miniseries, but this thriller raises the stakes by having the murders take place in the White House. James Marsden plays a fictional U.S. President who is found dead in his bedroom, and Sterling K. Brown plays a Secret Service agent who becomes the prime suspect in the murder. Of course, the murder of the president is only one element of a vast conspiracy, and Brown's agent is caught in the middle of it.

Julianne Nicholson and Sarah Shahi co-star in the eight-episode series from “This Is Us” creator Dan Fogelman. While the trailer focuses on suspense and thrills, “Paradise” will likely feature strong character development and emotional connections along with the necessary twists as Fogelman and “This Is Us” creator Brown team up again.
