Various rumors have circulated about the release date of the Nintendos 2, but few have offered an exact release date. Sufficient reports have speculated that March is the launch month for the console, and we know that this will happen.
However, a leak from Italian website UAGNA offers a more precise date for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2's first and third-party accessories. The website claims that these devices will launch on March 28, 2025. This sounds plausible, as it is unlikely that Nintendo would introduce accessories to the market without a console on the market.
Nor is it likely that Nintendo will launch accessories at the same time that it launches its game consoles. The console accessory market is big money, and Nintendo and third-party companies will want to have devices ready by the time of launch.
As with all leaks and rumors, we have to take this with a grain of salt. However, the dates listed here are consistent with other leaks suggesting that the console will be announced in January and released in late March. We could be wrong, but it is consistent with everything we have heard.
What is interesting about this timetable is that Nintendo typically takes a long lead time between the announcement of a console and its release. The original Switch launched on March 3, 2017, but Nintendo announced it on October 20, 2016, a full four and a half months later. With the rumored announcement and release dates, Nintendo would be roughly two and a half months apart.
Another Switch 2 leak shared by Forbes suggests that the console will have the same power as the PS4 Pro. Since the current Nintendo Switch runs at PS3-level graphics, it makes sense that Nintendo would jump an entire console generation with the successor to its popular hybrid console.
Of course, Nintendo would still be a generation behind Microsoft and Sony consoles. It is also worth noting that, according to rumors, these power levels will be reserved for the console's docked mode, which will be less powerful in handheld mode (like the current Switch). In this mode, the report states, the console will offer similar power to the base PS4.
